The saguaro cactus, which can reach up to 60 amazing feet tall, weigh nearly six tons of mostly water, and live 200 long years, only grows in the Sonoran desert. Its bloom, which lasts only one night through the following afternoon per year, is Arizona’s state flower.
Scottsdale’s oldest building, the 1892 Titus House, named after railroad investor Frank Titus, still stands at 1310 N. Hayden Road in Scottsdale and is listed on the National Register of Historic places.
