What to Do

Weta Workshop: Creative workshops that allow your imagination to run wild with movie sets, physical effects, make-up, and memorabilia. This community of artisans teach you all you need to know about movie magic.

Outdoor sports & activities: biking, hiking, and kayaking can all be had in this dynamic capital city. Escarpment Track, the Southern Walkway Trail, nature reserve Zealandia, Wellington Lake, or the Remutaka Cycle Trail are all excellent examples, and come complete with stunning views.

Wellington Cable Car: A bright red cable car taking passengers from the city center to the tip-top of the hillside. Once at the top, enjoy the botanical garden, Cable Car Museum, Space Place (at Carter Observatory) and Zealandia, or simply take in the stunning views.

Bluebridge and the Interislander Ferries: Carry passengers and freight down the Cook Straight, sailing between New Zealand’s North and South Islands. Wellington’s ferry terminals serve as a gateway to South Island, and the 3 hour ferry ride is known to be one of the most stunning and scenic journeys in the world. Wairarapa and Hawkes' Bay are also a ferry-ride away from Wellington.
